The 4DCity application is currently being developed at the Chair of Digital Humanities at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and as such one of the use cases within the 5Dculture project. With this application, users can essentially transport themselves into the past and explore a location (e.g., Jena or Dresden), including its buildings and landmarks, using a mobile device, spanning the time between 1800 and 2000. This provides the opportunity to take a journey through time and witness how a location has changed over the years. In general, users find themselves at a location where they can move around and view its buildings and landmarks from various perspectives. Additionally, there is the option to access further information related to these points of interest. As part of our presentation, interested individuals can try out the 4DCity app.
Dr. Sander Münster (Junior Professor for Digital Humanities (images/objects) at the Friedrich Schiller Universität Jena and Secretary of TMO) chairs the booth "Digital Humanities - Exponat: 4DCity - Eine App für den digitalen Tourismus der Zukunft" inviting attendees to try out the 4DCity app and providing background information.
