From 25 to 29 November, the Europeana Initiative invited the community to join an extensive online event highlighting the efforts and expertise of the
data space consortium active in diverse and innovative
projects enriching the
common European data space for cultural heritage.
The
Heritage Horizons: Europeana Project Week, put the spotlight on these projects and their work. Alexandru Stan presented our project 5Dculture during Day 3 (27 November), where the overall focus lay on re-use. It was a great opportunity to showcase all our achievements while also putting it all into a greater context with other similar projects, such as
EUREKA3D and XRCulture, which will start in 2025 and build up on part of the work done in 5Dculture.
Feel most welcome to watch the
whole video here (5Dculture starting ca. at 1:29:00 followed by the presentation of the XRCulture project by 5Dculture-partner Marco Medici from Inception).
In addition to presenting our project results on Day 3, Alexandru Stan also contributed to the panel discussion on Day 2, which was exploring the topic of 3D in general, insertion into the data space, storage solutions etc., highlighting different projects (upcoming and current), as well as presenting different tools for handling 3D data. The video recording of Day 2, 26 November 2024, can be found
here. Project Partner Sander Münster (TMO) presented the upcoming project 3DBigDataSpace - a project starting in February 2025 aiming at increasing the number of 3D assets in the data space, exploring storage possibilities for 3D data and other related topics. This project also builds upon findings (and the consortium) of 5Dculture, contributing to the sustainability of our joint efforts.
